Human Stays Trafficked to New York as Artwork Have Been Returned

After an eight-year investigation by the FBI, human stays that have been trafficked to New York as artwork have lastly been repatriated on the Pacific island of Vanuatu.

The Vanuatu Cultural Heart, the island’s nationwide museum, acquired a crate final week—escorted by US intelligence and safety brokers—containing the cranium of a person from an Indigenous Malakula hill tribe.

Chris McKeough, who works for the FBI’s artwork crime group, was on the ceremony in Port Vila. “New York is the artwork capital of the world, and due to that, is the artwork crime capital of the world,” he stated in an interview with NBC. “We don’t know who looted them or took them in a foreign country, however there’s a market on the earth for human stays, they’re trafficked sadly and they’re collected.”

McKeough added that the dimensions and weight of the Vanuatu effigies posed the best logistical problem the FBI’s crime group has ever confronted.
